Sambazon Opens Açai Factory in the Amazon!
We're very excited to announce the opening of our first acai processing facility.
Located
in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest and on
the banks of the world's largest river, the new factory makes Sambazon
the world's premier and only vertically integrated manufacturer and
marketer
of
Certified Organic, Fair Trade Açaí products. Vertical integration
ensures that our products are made with the highest standards of
quality, nutrition and taste while promoting our mission. Friends,
family and
colleagues journeyed to
the Amazon to share in a special inauguration ceremony, tour the
factory and meet growing families within Sambazon's Sustainable Açaí
Forest Project. We watched açaí harvesters scale 60 foot palm
trees to harvest the fruit and experienced once in a lifetime sights
and
sounds during a magical Amazon River experience. Look for

Sambazon at Austin City Limits
In other news stateside, Sambazon made its first showing at the Austin City Limits Music
Festival
at Zilker
Park, and we were met with nothing but love!! Sambazon had a total of
10 blenders running to satisfy the acai-hungry crowd that included
celebrities such as G. Love, Matisyahu, Damian Marley, and Matthew
McConaughey and his parents. Jack Ingram stocked his tour bus
with
our ready-to-drink smoothies, and Ben Harper requested over five açaí
bowls backstage after playing. We were also recognized by
Capital Sports Entertainment - one of the nation's top music, sports
and entertainment producers -- for
offering a super high quality, fair trade, organic product, and for
taking the extra step to use 100% biodegradeable corn starch cups and
spoons!!

Purple Smile Club
Four year old Renan is the son of Rul dos Santos, an açaí program manager in one of our certified farms
in the Amazon. We snapped him pre-Purple Smile but can assure you that south of the equator, the açaí smiles are just as big
and purple!

Employee Profile: Todd Woolery
Regional Sales
Manager Todd Woolery manages all
of Texas
sales activities and events with his brother Chad, also a Sambazon
employee - (We tend to like to keep it in the family here at
Sambazon!).
Together
Team Woolery bring an unparalled work ethic and a 'Don't Mess with Texas'
pride in all that they do. Todd is responsible for handling the 200 + retailers
in Austin, San Antonio, Dallas and
Houston. He manages a demo staff of about 15 + employees and
helps to develop relationships between produce
managers and team members. Recently Todd and his
brother Chad
spearheaded
Sambazon's participation at two major music festivals, Lollapalooza
and Austin City Limits.
Before Sambazon Todd worked in
computer consulting but finds promoting the purple berry much more
rewarding! Todd says, "Having the opportunity to promote a high
quality
product that encourages a healthier
lifestyle and is something you can believe in is one of the best parts
of working for a company like Sambazon." On his off
days you can find Todd enjoying the outdoors -- biking, swimming,
hiking and running. We're proud to have such an outstanding
employee as
Todd as part of our team!

Sambazon's Açaí Seed
Necklace
Sambazon's Açaí Seed Necklaces are a
true symbol of a sustainable future! The açaí
berry is
mainly seed -- the outer skin is used to make the fruit puree which we
use for our smoothies, beverages and supplements. Discarded seeds
are
made into necklaces by the women in the farming co-operatives we work
with to supplement their families' income. We also are working to be able to use the
seeds as
as fuel source for our factory. They look great and stand

Testimonial of the Month

Paddle Out to Protect the
Coast!
So Cal surfers and beach-goers, please come join us at free beach event
in Malibu this Sunday to protect the coast! Pierce Brosnan and Laird Hamilton are hosting the event to protest the building of a natural
gas terminal off the coast of Malibu. The proposed BHP Bilton LNG Terminal would pose significant and potentially irreversible impact to
our coast, the environment and our health.
We'll be there serving açaí smoothies and bowls as well as joining
in the water!
Our friends at Guayakí will also be there, with their energizing yerba mate.
