Team Sambazon Profile: Danilo Couto
Brasilian
surfer Danilo Couto blew everyone's mind this year on the North Shore
with
this historic 12 foot barrel. Danilo is from Salvador, Bahia and has
made name for himself on the big wave scene by dropping in on the
biggest waves
at top spots like Waimea, Maverick's, Teahupoo and Jaws. He's been
selected as a finalist 2 of the last 3 years at Billabong's XXL Global
Big Wave
Awards, proving he's one of the best on the planet. Danilo now lives on
the north shore and he and his wife Laura's 2 year old daughter Tiare
loves
acai so much he says he has to hide the bottles cause she'll drink 5 a
day. "I love Açai, it's the perfect way to start my day."

Employee of the Month: Rivadavia Gusmão
Rivadavia ("Riva") has led Sambazon Brasil since 2005, overseeing
finance, operations and the building of Sambazon's world class
manufacturing
facility. Riva joined Sambazon as a seasoned executive with over 35
years of senior management experience in Brazil and abroad. Riva is
fluent in
five languages and is known for his great sense of humor. Originally
from Minas Gerais, Riva lives in beautiful Ipanema with his lovely wife
Claudia. Riva has one son, Claudio, who is a doctor in Brasilia. Riva
enjoys music, motor boating in Angra dos Reis and fine wine. Riva tells
us
what he likes most about Sambazon is its "dynamism, passion and people
that can make (almost) everything possible."
Well Riva, we couldn't do it without you! Thanks for being part of our team.

We've just been at a number of great events such as The Happening- a very cool progressive art, film and music symposium in NYC and several Earth Day
Celebrations around the country including Greenfest Chicago (first time event for Chicago!!)

Earth Day = Every Day!
Last weekend marked the 37th anniversary of Earth Day - which is now celebrated by millions of people across the world! With a higher consciousness
raising of all things "Green" it is amazing to see the collective energy, ideas and people all across the planet coming together for a unified cause.
Thomas Friedman recently wrote a very compelling article in the New York Times Sunday magazine called "The Power of Green". As Mr. Friedman writes:
"An unusual situation like this calls for the ethic of stewardship. Stewardship is what parents do for their kids: think about the long term, so
they can have a better future. It is much easier to get families to do that than whole societies, but that is our challenge. In many ways, our
parents rose to such a challenge in World War II -- when an entire generation mobilized to preserve our way of life. That is why they were called the
Greatest Generation. Our kids will only call us the Greatest Generation if we rise to our challenge and become the Greenest Generation."
