Team Sambazon Profile: Brendan Brazier
Brendan Brazier, professional Ironman Triathlete and two-time Canadian 50Km Ultra Marathon
Champion, started his quest as a 15-year-old athlete determined to eat a completely plant-based diet. Brendan recently released "The Thrive Diet: The Whole Food Way to Lose Weight, Reduce Stress, and Stay Healthy for Life" where he outlines the
successful diet he has used to achieve optimal athletic performance and highlights key "next level" foods that give important nutritional benefits,

Sambazon Events and Happenings
We come out of hibernation in January when our events and trade shows start heating up.
This past weekend we were at the Wall Street Journal Lounge at the Sundance
Film Festival serving up Açaí bowls, juices and smoothies to nourish and energize festival goers like "the Mac guy" Justin Long
pictured here
getting his bowl on.
This coming weekend we've been invited back by popular demand for the 5th year in a row
to ESPN's Athletes Lounge at the Winter X Games in Aspen - seems
the
world's top snow athletes appreciate purple berry power to fuel their runs.

Our friend Karen first contacted us a couple years ago - when she wrote she loved
Açaí
so much she was considering having an Açaí smoothie bar at her wedding!! Karen and her husband recently had their first daughter
in November and she sent us this very kind note and her special recipe for 'The Emma':
"....Emma...arrived gorgeous, healthy and happy! Throughout my pregnancy I kept PURE AÇAÍ smoothie packs in our freezer for my own
smoothies. They kept my energy up - and when I couldn't keep anything down (hello, morning sickness...) I could always count on my
Açaí! Needless to say, the first thing I REALLY wanted and craved after giving birth was one of my smoothies.....As soon as we

This month we're featuring two recipes as we just received a great savory
Açaí Dressing from Allison:
"... I use it on a salad of greens, fresh yellow corn, avocado,
pecans and pomegranate seeds. It can be used as a sauce to put on steamed veggies or as a dip for raw veggies too. It's so
yummy!!..... The recipe depends on how much you are making but its ratio of half oil to half acid (other liquid) ingredients."

Açaí Dressing
Ratio of half oil to half acid (other liquid ingredients)
50%= Extra virgin Olive Oil
-garlic infused olive oil (this can be done by smashing a garlic glove and letting it sit in extra virgin olive oil for an hour or so)
**OR to make this quicker, one can use a pinch of good garlic salt and regular extra virgin olive oil
50% = Other Liquids
-1/2 of a lemon's juice
-splash of apple cider vinegar
- Sambazon® Original Açaí juice
-pinch salt and pepper

Employee Profile: Tim Sykora
Tim Sykora, our Northern California Sales Manager, started working for Sambazon after
studying nutrition and working at Whole Foods Market. Tim's responsible for handling the grocery market in NorCal, which includes all Safeways,
Raley's, Nob Hill's, Bel Air's and Save Marts. Tim manages in-store merchandising, account relationships, demos, events and all things Sambazon
up north.
When Tim's not working, he plays soccer and guitar, and is a big San Jose Sharks fan.
In his free time, Tim tells us he enjoys hanging out with family and friends, playing with his dog, and traveling. Tim says, "I love waking up
everyday knowing that my work directly affects future generations of indigenous people in the Brazilian Amazon. I love the people I work
with. And I love Açaí."
