Awards: Sambazon at the ESPYs
This year the ESPYs - the annual ESPN hosted athlete awards ceremony - went green! Boasting a
theme of "Environmentality", the top athletes in this country congregated at the Standard Hotel in LA for a few days of eco-pampering and fun. Top
athlete nominees like Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow, Portland Trailblazer's Greg
Oden, Dave Diel (see photo above) from the NY Giants, and pro snowboarder Gretchen
Bleiler hung out, played golf, and
visited us in a newly drafted eco-chic hospitality suite. Sambazon made bowls with all of the great toppings like organic granola, cacao nibs,
Manitoba Harvest hemp seeds, bee pollen, and fresh fruit... and we even let some of the pros get behind the table and show us how they like their
bowl
made!

Event: Publix Family Fitness Weekend,
Ft. Lauderdale
Publix, the renowned supermarket in the Southeast region is spearheading a
tour of Family Fitness Weekends around Florida. Recently, we went to the Ft. Lauderdale stop to visit with all the local triathletes, runners,
swimmers,
cyclists and hand out smoothies to families enjoying a day of outside activities, races and summer fun.

Team: Sanoe Lake
Sanoe grew up surfing on Kaua'i and began modeling and acting years ago. Since she starred in
Blue Crush (as the only actress to surf her own waves!), she's been seen in a variety of award winning Indy films including Rolling
that won the San
Francisco and NY Film Festival Audience Awards. This year, her latest film, Half-Life was accepted into the prestigious Sundance Film
Festival.
Although she's been an Açaí fan for years, Sanoe recently joined our team because she says, "Sambazon is making a difference for the better
and our world needs that."

Create Positive Change: Plant A Billion
The Nature Conservancy realized that the Atlantic forest of South America,
once the size of the US eastern seaboard from Maine to South Carolina, has been reduced to a mere 7% of it's original size due to development,
logging, farming and the cattle industry. Tropical forests store
enormous amounts of carbon dioxide and release oxygen, regulating the earth's temperature and climate.
"The Atlantic forest - the focus of the Plant
a Billion Trees campaign - alone provides clean water and hydro energy to over 120 milllion people in Brazil" and is one of the most biodiverse
places on earth. With the Plant a Billion campaign the Conservancy plans to restore 2.5 million acres of forest by planting 1 billion trees over the
next 7
years. This project will essentially remove 10 million tons of carbon dioxide each year. Now that's something to support! And at $1 a tree everyone
can easily afford to make a difference.

1 Cup rum of your choice
A Punch of sugar
1 Tablespoon of powdered guarana (optional)

 Employee of the Month:
Jill Ettinger
Jill is our Eastern U.S. Promotions Manager, she organizes all demos and events in the
Eastern half of the country so that as many people as possible get to taste Sambazon for the first or for the 50th time.
Jill gained much of her experience in the natural products industry working as a freelance marketing consultant prior to Sambazon, but she's also a
writer, certified yoga instructor and amateur DJ. In her free time, she loves taking pictures, traveling, planting fruit trees, playing with her dog
and cat and spending time with friends and family.
"Working at Sambazon is one of those experiences where there really are no bad parts, even the tough stuff is somehow still fun, " says Jill.
"That's probably because the team is so supportive, positive and committed to our mission. I'm humbled by that every day."
