Q: Where can I find fresh açaí berries?
A:Fresh açaí berries are only found in and around the Amazon Rainforest because they are extremely perishable. At Sambazon’s proprietary facility in the Amazon Rainforest, we work with a network of small family farmers that bring their açaí harvest immediately from the tree to our dock where we’re able to remove the fruit pulp from the seeds and freeze it so that it stays fresh while transported to the States.
In addition, a ton of berries only goes a little ways. The actual fruit pulp is really a thin skin that surrounds a seed the size of a blueberry. What we eat is less than 5% of the berry itself, so you will find about 100 berries in a single 10.5 ounce Sambazon juice bottle. We try to do all the hard work for you.

EVENT /// Boston Marathon
Last month marked the 114th annual Boston Marathon, which is by all accounts the world’s oldest annual marathon. Each year, the Boston Marathon attracts an average of 20,000 athletes from around the world who compete in the infamously hilly New England terrain. As each runner must meet a strict qualifying time to even be able to race at Boston, this event draws only the top amateur athletes along with elite professionals. These athletes, many overly conscious of what exactly goes into their bodies, were ecstatic to see something so healthy and delicious as Sambazon açaí to greet them at the race expo.
A big thanks to all the competitors! We were inspired and honored to be able to support you this year and we’re looking forward to seeing you again in 2011!

TEAM PROFILE /// Joe Aaron
Local Capistrano Beach longboarder and Sambazon Ambassador Joe Aaron, has already established himself not only as one of the top rated longboarders in the world, but also as one of the brightest young talents in the surf industry today.
On a recent 10 day trip to the north island of New Zealand, Joe uncovered something radical… his new signature move. Joe tells us, “It was inspired by Elvis and Michael Jackson. It has never been done on a surfboard and… the only part of me touching the board is my ten toes. I call it the ‘The Jackson 10’.”
That wasn’t the only accomplishment of the trip, however. In between surfing epic waves from coast to coast, Joe went deep sea fishing for the first time and caught the first Yellow Tail of the trip. Great waves and good grub, sounds like they scored.
The trip earned a cover story that’s slated to appear in the June issue of Slide Magazine, so make sure to pick it up for a full recount of Joe’s adventure.
