Warriors of Change Contest

Warrior Up celebrates people who are using their passions and talents to make a difference in the community. As part of the Warrior Up campaign, Sambazon, in partnership with Off The Mat, Into The World®, has created the Warrior of Change contest. Through the contest, we will be giving $10,000 in a grant to an individual that demonstrates the ability to most effectively make positive social, environmental and economic change in their worlds.

Starting September 1, 2010, we will be accepting nominations from individuals with a social or environmental project who may or may not be associated with a non-profit organization for a $10,000 grant.

An individual warrior is someone that uses their expertise to benefit their community through a project, a foundation, or association with a non-profit. You could be passionate about protecting the planet and finding ways to help reduce our footprint, or possibly you have an innovative idea that promotes public health through nutritious, local and organic foods, or maybe you care about social justice, poverty alleviation, or access to basic needs like clean water. Whatever your interest, if you have creative ideas and plan to take action to accomplish a goal that furthers the welfare of the people and the planet, we’d like to help you make your dream a reality and we invite you to apply.

A great example are Sambazon Warriors Evan Marks, Hans Rey, Rob Machado, Jack and Jon Rose, and Seane Corn, all individuals who have taken their expertise with ecology, philanthropy, human needs, leadership and so forth to start non-profits that directly address these issues. Use them for inspiration and then let us know what drives you to make a difference.

You will be asked a series of questions where you will be able to articulate your involvement with a cause and your project, the need and the scope of influence your project may have, along with details about how you plan to most effectively spend the $10,000 grant and what milestones you plan to achieve. You will also be asked to note two professional or academic references, ideally individuals that can vouch for your project, your work ethic and your personal drive for creating positive change.

If you choose, you may upload a link to a video or photos to visually demonstrate your project.

When applying make sure you choose a project that can be completed within 12 months. We’ll be checking back with you occasionally to tell our fans your story and report what you’ve been able to achieve.
