Fair Trade is more than just a certification -- it allows us to help raise the standard of living for 20,000 Açaí family farmers.

We also invest 5% of our fruit purchases directly back into local communities, and with your help, we’ve been able to build schools, library, sports center, renovate healthcare centers thus improving literacy and access to healthcare.

2000

Sambazon is founded on a triple bottom line philosophy shortly after experiencing an Açaí bowl in Brazil

2003

Sambazon pioneers organic certification for Açai with the USDA

2004

Sambazon creates the Sustainable Açai Project to establish long term goals for the Açai industry

2005

Sambazon opens the world’s largest and most technically advanced Açai processing center in Macapa, AP - Brazil.

2006

Sambazon receives the US Dept. of State’s Award for Corporate Excellence (ACE) 

2008

Sambazon establishes first Fair Trade certification for Açai with Eco-Cert 

2010

Sambazon opens the first Sambazon Café retail store in Cardiff By The Sea, CA.

2018

In partnership with thousands of people who joined the Purple for the Planet movement, Sambazon protects more than 30 species in just 30 days.
