5 Ways to Celebrate a Healthy Summer with the Whole Family

As a new mom, something that is at the forefront of my mind is how I can pass along the healthy habits that I’ve created for myself along with my daughters. One of the ways I plan to do that is to create fun rituals and traditions that they can take part in throughout every season of their lives. Seeing that it’s summertime, I put together a few fun ideas that are amazing for the whole family to be happy AND healthy!

1. Build Your Own Sorbet Sundae:

I personally love sorbet and I love it as an option for the whole family, kids included, as it’s a healthy alternative to ice cream, so this is perfect for the summer! The entire family can have fun making their own sorbet sundae with different toppings. I love to include fresh sliced fruit such as bananas, kiwi, mango, strawberries, blueberries or strawberries. You can also add superfood toppings such as cacao nibs, coconut flakes and nuts! If you really want to take it up a notch, use a frozen scooped out orange half for the bowl.

I always reach for the SAMBAZON Organic Açaí Sorbet, not only because it’s delicious, but it’s also convenient and nutritious for the little ones (and adults too!) with its easy scoopable format and delicious flavor with tons of antioxidants and healthy omegas 3, 6, and 9. We can also teach our kids about the importance of supporting brands that support the environment with SAMBAZON Açaí being Certified Fair Trade, ethically sourced, and Certified Organic, too!

2. Grow a Garden Together:

Kids LOVE to get their hands dirty, and what better way to do this than to plant a home garden? It’s a way to get outside and to learn about our food system and how we get the food that helps us grow big and strong. Bonus points if you grow some fruit to top on your Açaí bowls! From a developmental standpoint, this also helps our little ones with their motor skills, encourages healthy eating and a sense of responsibility to take care of the garden. It’s a win/win all around!

3. Make Your Own Popsicle:

Grab a cute popsicle mold and allow the whole family to have fun with these. You can use any of SAMBAZON’s Açaí Superfruit Packs or Cubes as a base, and add in fun surprises such as chocolate chips, your favorite fruit, granola, etc. - the possibilities are endless! Or if you’re pressed for time, you can just grab some SAMBAZON smoothie pops and enjoy yourself at the beach, pool or just outside in the sunshine.

4. Popsicle Boat Races at the Pool:

Let everyone in the family in on a fun craft day by making and designing their own popsicle boat with the leftover popsicle sticks from your popsicle day, Bring the boats along to the pool with you and set out on a race - the winner gets to pick the next family activity! Anything that gets the kids and entire family outside for some good playtime that encourages physical activity is an A+ in my book.

5. Go Strawberry Picking:

Find a local strawberry farm in your area and bring along the whole family to go strawberry picking! You can teach the kids about farming, how we get our food and of course get the whole family moving and outside to soak up some vitamin D. You can also share the benefits of strawberries and use them in your Sorbet Sundae Station!

Overall, any activity that involves bonding with the whole family, using creativity and allowing everyone to nourish their body, mind and soul is a 10/10 in my book. Enjoy soaking up these moments of sweet summertime!
